BOMATAN DLX EXTRA
Condensation product of dihydroxy-diphenyl-sulfone
Main features
BOMATAN DLX EXTRA has a wide range of use both as a tanning agent for white leathers and as a lightener on chrome and vegetable leathers. BOMATAN DLX EXTRA gives good results in the retanning of chrome leathers to which it gives a fine grain and a soft touch. Thanks to its excellent lightfastness, it is particularly suitable for the production of white leathers. In the retanning of dry tumbled leathers, BOMATAN DLX EXTRA gives a fine and uniform grain. BOMATAN ALW
Synthetic substitution tannin with excellent tanning properties
Main features
BOMATAN ALW is used for all types of leather, for example:
– For the retanning of footwear leathers with excellent body
– For the production of nubuck with a fine sanded finish
– For the retanning of white leathers with good lightfastness
– For the retanning of cowhide and sheepskin leathers for clothing
– For the retanning of leather goods with good perspiration fastness
– For the white tanning of all types of leather
– Good buffing effect on split leather
– Produces glossy leathers when dyed in pastel shades
To be used after neutralisation and before fertilisation.
We recommend 4–6 per cent BOMATAN ALW.
We recommend 20–30 per cent BOMATAN ALW when used on its own.
BOMARTAN S5F
Liquid Tannin for White
Main features
BOMARTAN S5F is a liquid tannin that is miscible with water in all proportions. This completely formaldehyde-free product is a quaternary organic molecule. Generally used to produce chromium-free white leather, it imparts significant resistance to light and high temperatures to the leather. Used at a pH of 2.0–5.0
To ensure good penetration, it must be fixed at a pH of 5.0–5.5. The final alkalisation is of the utmost importance for producing soft leathers. BOMARTAN S5F can be used in pre-tanning, tanning and as a dye fixative.
BOMARTAN X3
Oxazolidine-based product
Main features
BOMARTAN X3 is a liquid oxazolidine derivative ranging in colour from straw-yellow brown to colourless, easily diluted in water. It is used in both mineral (chromium) and vegetable tanning. BOMARTAN X3 gives the leathers a more uniform grain, improves the distribution of the tanning agent and therefore the uniformity and intensity of the dyes. BOMARTAN X3 is generally used:
1) after chrome tanning or retanning, where, by increasing the fixation of chromium, it imparts greater softness, a finer grain and greater tear resistance.
2) as an auxiliary agent in the pre-tanning of vegetable-tanned hides, after pickling and before the application of synthetic tannins, resulting in softer hides.
3) as an auxiliary agent in chrome-to-vegetable or vegetable-to-chrome retanning to raise the shrinkage temperature, resulting in a finer grain and improved polishability.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
In the pre-tanning stage: 1.0–2.0 per cent by weight of the tripe
In the retanning stage: 2.0–4.0 per cent by weight of the skinned hide
BOMARTAN GT 25
Glutaric Aldehyde
Main features
BOMARTAN GT 25 is an aldehyde retanning agent used for various items with a high degree of fixability. BOMARTAN GT 25 is compatible with acids, neutral salts and mineral tannins.
Thanks to its properties, BOMARTAN GT 25 imparts softness and a full-bodied feel to the leather, with high resistance to water and perspiration, and enables uniform dyeing.
The astringent power of BOMARTAN GT 25 depends on the pH value. On chrome-tanned hides, BOMARTAN GT 25 can be introduced as a retanning agent. Due to its compatibility with many commonly used dyes and oils, BOMARTAN GT 25 can be introduced at any stage during the dyeing and/or fattening process, provided that the pH is less than 4. Due to its relatively high pH, the neutralisation period is considerably shortened.
